Actress and staunch supporter of Prophet TB Joshua, Rita Edochie, has described the BBC documentary on the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) as an insult to “black people and the body of Christ”.
Rita Edochie (born April 16, 1964) is a popular Nigerian Nollywood actress, TV presenter/host, politician, and entrepreneur. She is also famously known as the sister-in-law of the legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie. Rita was born into an Igbo-Christian family. Some of her popular movies are: Mami Wata (2023); Blood Affair (2021); Marriage Pressure (2020); Royal Doom (2006); Women’s Cot (2005); Dangerous Mind (2004); Abuja Boys (2004); Anunuebe (2003) and over 100 titles.
The 59-year-old actress made the statement in a lengthy post via Instagram on Thursday after a three-part documentary, detailing an alleged sexual assault, torture, staged miracles and others was released January 8th.
Former disciples and followers of the late televangelist made the allegations.

Weighing in on the controversy, Rita said people are quick to jump to conclusions in matters that require investigation and she feels sorry for those who make it a habit of escalating topics without proper investigation.

“MY TAKE ON TB JOSHUA… I HAVE LISTENED TO SOME PERSONS, CRITICISED, INSULTED AND BLACKMAILED THE LATE PROPHET TB JOSHUA ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA. I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR HUMAN BEINGS, THE BLACK MAN PARTICULARLY SOME OF OUR BLOGGERS, WHO OFTEN PICK AND ESCALATE ON ANY TOPIC WITHOUT REALLY INVESTIGATING, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF MONEY. WE NO LONGER RESPECT THE DEAD AND ALLOW THEM TO BE. THE WORLD HAS TURNED TO SOMETHING ELSE AND LIKE I ALWAYS SAY THE DEVIL HAS TAKEN OVER THE WORLD.
“THE PROBLEM WITH OUR PEOPLE IS THAT THEY ARE ALWAYS IN A HURRY TO JUMP INTO CONCLUSIONS IN MATTERS THAT REQUIRE INVESTIGATION. SOME REPORT MATTERS AS IF THEY WERE AT THE SCENE.”

The actress who is no stranger to SCOAN continued:

BUT ONE THING WE FAIL TO REALISE IS THAT THE WHITE MAN NEVER BELIEVES THAT ANYTHING GOOD CAN COME OUT OF THE BLACK RACE, THEY THEREFORE LOOK FOR THE SLIGHTEST OPPORTUNITY TO RUBBISH ANYTHING GOOD THAT COMES OUT OF THERE, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT POSES A CHALLENGE TO THEM. The Anambra-born star added that TB Joshua was a real man of God and no cleric, dead or alive is as popular as him.
The late Prophet TB Joshua (June 12, 1963 – June 5, 2021) was widely known across Africa and Latin America and had a large social media presence with over six million fans on Facebook. His YouTube channel, Emmanuel TV, had over one million subscribers and was the most-viewed Christian ministry on the platform before the channel was suspended by YouTube in 2021 for alleged homophobic hate speech. Joshua was described by media outlets as the “Oprah of Evangelism” and “YouTube’s most popular pastor”.
Rita Edochie continues:
“I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF WHITE EVANGELIST, PASTORS AND PROPHETS, BUT NONE BOTH LIVING AND DEAD IS AS POPULAR AS THE LATE PROPHET TB JOSHUA. DON’T FORGET THAT IT’S THE SAME WHITE MAN WHO SAID THEY INVESTIGATED THE LATE PROPHET TB JOSHUA FOR GOOD FIFTEEN YEARS AND CAME UP WITH THE CONCLUSION THAT HE WAS A REAL MAN OF GOD.
THIS SAME LATE TB JOSHUA WAS INVITED BY DIFFERENT GOVERNMENTS AND PRESIDENTS FROM THE WHITE MAN’S COUNTRY TO PRAY FOR THEM.

Rita’s last known visit to SCOAN was during TB Joshua’s first memorial service on June 5, 2022. She attended the anniversary with her other spiritual father Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Prophet Odumeje, the founder of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry and actor Jerry Amilo.
